Destination Wedding Photography – Laura & Chandler

Weddings

May 22, 2018

Laura and Chandler knew that they wanted their wedding to be an unforgettable experience, not just for themselves, but for their closest family and friends as well. They wanted the entire experience to be intimate, heart-felt, and an absolute blast. Every detail, from the private accommodations on the locals only side of the island, to the ocean side ceremony where the Bride’s father officiated the wedding, and down to the welcome bags with customized shot glasses and tequila flights… every detail of their wedding weekend was intimate, heart-felt, and an absolute blast.

The couple had been together for seven years before their wedding day, and grew up vacationing together with their families in the Riviera Maya. For them, the island of Cozumel has become a sort of second home. It was only fitting that they would have their wedding in a place that held so many memories, and invite their guests to experience a culture that they had grown to love together. Since their wedding would be in Cozumel on Cinco De Mayo weekend, Laura decided to blend with the Latin American and tropical themes, weaving  both into her wedding details. We absolutely loved her invitation from Shindig Paperie which incorporated the traditional sugar sculls that are often associated with Latin American holidays, as well as vibrant tropical flowers in her envelope liner. Her gown was from Low’s Bridal and was made with Spanish lace, and her wedding “shoes” added a bit of glamour to her barefoot beach wedding.

Since the couple wanted their celebration to be intimate, they rented out a boutique resort on the natural reserve side of the island for all of their wedding guests. The couple and their guests were the only guests in the resort, which made for the ultimate vacation– the couple and their closest friends! Rather than having a wedding party, Laura and Chandler considered all of their guests part of their wedding party, so the two of them took their vows side by side while their guests watched and the waves rolled in behind them.

Afterward, a Mariachi band played throughout dinner as the guests ate under the stars. After the first dances the party took off and ended with all the guests (including the bride and groom) jumping into the pool at the center of the resort! We had a blast getting to photograph this incredible wedding, incredible couple, and incredible group of people. Cheers to the happy couple!
